What a odd week it’s been. We’ve finally handed the keys over to our old apartment or condo in so it’s goodbye to Surry Hills. This is our last sunset from this view.
We’ve got mixed emotions about leaving this spot. It’s been an extraordinary place to live; we’ve had some fantastic times here. Parties, meals, visitors, starting businesses, planning travel… it’s all happened under this roof. We even got married while we were here.
But at the same time, we feel like we’ve out-grown and over-lived the space and it’s probably time to step on. We already love our new home and neighbourhood, which is lucky. Mrs romance is going to miss Surry Hills a lot more than me, which we’re shocked about.
It’s just a good job the rest of Sydney is just as Instagram worthy!
The thing Mrs romance is going to miss the most about Surry Hills is this place: Paramount Coffee Project. It is was our local cafe and they know our coffee orders off by heart, which is no indicate feat for somewhere as busy and as amazing as the PCP.
These blossoms are on our table while we’re enjoying our last breakfast here as locals.
It’s a rainy old day in Sydney today. best weather for settling back and enjoying a few home comforts… regrettably Mrs romance has a very busy day ahead of her. looks like I’ll have to do enough kicking back for the two of us. I think I’m up to the challenge!
These pastries are from Baked Uprising in Newcastle. Sally and Jerome Scarborough from Scarborough Wines put them out for us to try while we were in the hunter Valley checking out them last week. now I can’t stop thinking about these delicious brioche style parcels of yum.
Might have to make another trip up to the hunter again soon to eat more!
This morning the clouds over the city are so low. earlier Mrs romance couldn’t even see Centrepoint Tower. hope this indicates it’s going to be a great day. We’re set for a busy weekend and it’d be a shame if it was as rainy as it was the other day.
I don’t normally consider fish burgers to be in the same realm as regular burgers… but this has to be considered. We’re at Merivale’s Fish shop in Potts point for a farewell lunch with our mate Jess.
This burger is something else – I can’t tell whether it’s the crispy crumbed fish, the smoky bacon, the chilli punch from the jalapeno or the bun that’s so soft, I’ve put my thumb through the top when I picked it up. Whatever it is, this is worth coming here on its own.
And the chips they do here take me back to the Old Dart, which is praise indeed!
We’re back out on the ferry tonight making the most of the incredibly Sunday public carry deal Sydney does. $2.50 for unrestricted metropolitan travel! love that!
The sunset through the Harbour Bridge and the water down at circular Quay is just stunning!
And so ends another frantic week and busy weekend. Our friend’s cat Kizmet, who’s featured on previous Instagram Diaries – is clearly feeling the strain too. She fell asleep on her nose!
Hope your weekend’s been a good one. tell us what you’ve been up to in the comments!
